Report Animal Abuse
There has been some progress toward creating awareness in our communities that animals are sentient beings who share our capacity for emotions like love, pleasure and pain. But the sad reality is that many seemingly ordinary people still commit horrific acts of animal cruelty. We ask you to please speak for those who can't speak for themselves and put an end to their suffering.
SPCA inspectors enforce the Animals Protection Act (APA) no. 71 of 1962. This legislation empowers the inspectors to instigate legal action against abusive and neglectful owners. If found guilty, the perpetrator could face up to three years imprisonment and/or a fine of R60 000.
If you know of any animals that is being neglected or treated badly, please contact the SPCA. You do not have to give your name when reporting animal cruelty if you are worried about adverse repercussions from neighbours.
